Not independently attested. No Zulu water-spirit is recorded as a cougar, an animal absent from South Africa; the 'cougar of the cliffs' that carries prayers skyward is invented template prose. Zulu aquatic spirit-lore centres on the inkanyamba, a great serpent of rivers and storms, and the mamlambo river-creature; neither has a cougar form.
