Not independently attested. Coyotes do not occur in Southern Africa, and no Zulu spirit of the coyote is recorded; the input itself substitutes the jackal, the genuine Nguni trickster animal. The ishove it cites are spirits believed to bestow talent, with no coyote association. Zulu trickster-lore belongs to the jackal, the hare and uHlakanyana.
