Crane Guardian of Ojibwe
A 'crane guardian' as a distinct spirit is not attested in Ojibwe tradition. What is genuinely documented is the Crane Clan (Ajijaak or Baswenaazhi), one of the original seven doodemag and, with the Loon Clan, the hereditary leadership clan; white-crane chiefs met the first French explorers of Lake Superior. This entry inflates clan symbolism into an invented guardian figure.
