Dønnamannen

troll · Norway · Nordic

Dønnamannen ('the Man of Dønna') is a troll of Norwegian legend tied to the reclining rock formation on the island of Dønna in Nordland. The story connects him to the Seven Sisters, the famous mountain range on nearby Alstenøya: as a troll he is said to have been turned to stone, and his rock silhouette lies on its back with hands folded across its chest, visible from the sea.
