De Syv Søstre (the Seven Sisters) are the seven daughters of Suliskongen, the troll king of Sulitjelma. According to the famous Helgeland legend cycle, the sisters were sent away from home for discipline and ended up on the island of Alsten. When pursued by Hestmannen, they danced on the shore to distract him, but were caught by the sunrise and turned into the seven peaks that form one of Norway's most iconic mountain silhouettes.
