Deer Giant of Shoshone
Among the Shoshone people of the Great Basin, the Deer Giant is a sky-roaming titan that controls the weather patterns and the movements of the celestial bodies. Unlike the earthbound giants of other traditions, this being dwells in the high places where the sky meets the mountain peaks, its massive form often mistaken for a thunderhead on the horizon. The Shoshone tell stories of this giant as a protector of the game animals and a punisher of those who hunt for sport rather than sustenance, reflecting the deep reverence for the deer that sustained their way of life
