Deer Guardian (Mixtec)

guardian · Mexico · Mesoamerica

In Chilean interpretations, the deer guardian spirit draws from both Mapuche and coastal traditions, embodying the protective energy of the pudu, the worlds smallest deer species that inhabits the dense bamboo forests of southern Chile. This guardian is associated with the sky through its connection to the condor, the great bird that carries prayers to the heavens. The spirit represents the delicate balance between the lush forests of the Lake District and the immense Andes mountains, serving as a bridge between the coastal realms and the high alpine zones
