Deer Nature-Spirit of Tlingit
In Canadian Tlingit communities of British Columbia, the Deer Nature-Spirit guards the coastal hills and inlets where the deer migrate between the mainland and the islands. This version of the spirit is particularly associated with the misty fjords and the dense temperate rainforest that blankets the Inside Passage. The Tlingit people of Canada maintain that this spirit is the keeper of the boundary between the saltwater shores and the dark forest interior, two fundamental realms in Tlingit cosmology that represent the known and the mysterious
