Degei (also spelled Ndengei) is the great serpent god of Fiji, specifically venerated as the ancestor spirit who led the first humans from the Nakauvadra Mountains down to the coastal regions. This manifestation of Degei focuses on the god's role as an ancestral figure rather than the supreme creator.
