Deildegast (from Norwegian: deil meaning boundary + gast meaning ghost) is a restless undead spirit in Norwegian folklore. The deildegast is the ghost of a person who moved boundary markers or stole land during their lifetime. As punishment, the spirit is condemned to eternally wander the boundary lines, endlessly trying to lift or replace the boundary stones. This ghost is bound to the earth until the stone is returned to its rightful place. The deildegast is closely associated with Telemark, Agder, and Østlandet regions.
