Den Grå Dame (the Grey Lady) is a famous ghost of Arendal, haunting the Det Kallevigske palé (Kallevig Palace), the old town hall of Arendal. The Grey Lady is the ghost of Cathrine Kitty Kallevig (1783-1840s), a wealthy shipowner's wife who lived in the mansion. Dressed in a grey 1800s silk dress, she has been seen by numerous employees since the 1980s — appearing in the upper-floor hallways, near the grand staircase, and in the council chamber.
