Diablada
The Diablada ('dance of the devils') is the famous mask dance of the Carnaval de Oruro, Bolivia, rooted in the Uru people's Llama-Llama ritual and reshaped under Spanish Catholic influence. Dancers in baroque devil (Supay) masks and armor enact the battle of good against evil, with the archangel Michael triumphant; Oruro's carnival became a UNESCO Masterpiece of Intangible Heritage in 2001.
