Curse of Dido (Carthaginian Curse)

Not independently attested in folklore literature. In Virgil's Aeneid (Book IV), Dido curses Aeneas and his Roman descendants, foretelling eternal enmity between Carthage and Rome before killing herself. No tradition describes her ghost haunting Carthage's ruins or a 'Carthaginian Curse' placed on the site.
