Dimo is a cannibal giant in Sotho (Basotho) folklore who terrorizes villages, devouring anyone he catches. In the beloved tale of Tselane, Dimo tricks the young girl into opening her door by mimicking her mother's secret call-and-response song. He consulted a medicine woman who told him to thrust a red-hot iron rod down his throat to clear his voice, which succeeded. He captured Tselane and put her in a bag, but local children discovered her and replaced her with a swarm of bees. When Dimo opened the bag at home, the bees attacked and stung him to death.
