Divs are malevolent giant-demons of Azerbaijani and broader Turkic mythology, derived from the Zoroastrian daeva tradition. They appear in countless Azerbaijani fairy tales and in the Kitabi-Dede Korkut epic as the primary antagonists of human heroes. Divs live in deep wells, underground caves with three chambers, and mountain caverns across Azerbaijan, from the Talysh Mountains in the southeast to the Greater Caucasus range.
