Div (Daeva)
Divs are demonic beings of Afghan folk tradition, part of the wider Persianate belief descended from Zoroastrian daevas. In Dari and Pashto tales divs dwell in remote mountains and caves, guard treasure, and abduct travelers, and heroes must outwit or overpower them. The Afghan div tradition is real, though details vary locally.
