Domen-heksene
Domen-heksene (the Witches of Mount Domen) are the spirits of witches who gathered at Mount Domen near Vardø in Finnmark, the site of Norway's most infamous witch trials. Between 1621 and 1663, 91 people were executed for witchcraft in Vardø — more than anywhere else in Norway. According to local folklore, the witches gathered at Domen to meet Satan, flying as cats, dogs, birds, or sea monsters. The mount itself is said to be haunted by their spirits, and strange lights and sounds are still reported there. The Vardø witch trials were unique in their focus on Sami magic and the use of the devil
