Douen
The Douen is a forest spirit of Trinidad and Tobagonian folklore, the soul of an unbaptized child who died and now wanders the woods. Its backward-turned feet confuse trackers, and it lures children away by mimicking the voices of parents and loved ones. Parents use Douen tales to keep children from wandering alone.
