Dovregubben
Dovregubben (The Dovre King/Old Man of Dovre) is the king of the trolls who lives in the Dovre Mountains, created by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen for his 1867 play Peer Gynt. Dovregubben is a huge, ugly troll king with a nose like a club and a scepter made of a cow's tail. In Peer Gynt, he presides over his troll court in the Dovre Hall and gives Peer the infamous ultimatum: "Be true to yourself, enough for yourself" (the troll's motto, contrasting with the human ideal of "be yourself").
