Drakos
In modern Greek folk tradition, drakos (pl. drakoi) are monstrous, ogre-like giants, distinct from the classical drakon. Dragon-slayer tales, including the Akritas cycles, recount heroes battling drakoi and their wives. This folk meaning of drakos as a giant or ogre is well attested in Greek oral tradition.
