Draugur
Draugur (Faroese dreygur) is the Faroese form of the Norse draugr, a walking dead being of island tradition. Draugar in the Faroes were often described as large figures in grey clothes who guarded burial mounds and treasure or, in sea lore, as the drowned dead who rose to drag the living down. The sign of the cross and naming them aloud were said to ward them off.
