Drekavac
The Drekavac ('screamer') of South Slavic belief is the restless spirit of an unbaptized child that wails horribly at night, blending animal cries with human sobs. In parts of Bosnia it appears as a dappled, spindle-thin being or a spectral soldier, and its scream is said to foretell death or cattle disease. It shows itself at night, especially during the twelve 'unbaptized days' of Christmas.
