Dâyuni'Sï
Dâyuni'sï, 'Beaver's Grandchild,' is the water-beetle who plays the decisive role in the Cherokee creation story of how the world was made. When all was water, the animals sent divers down to find earth; each failed until Dâyuni'sï dove to the bottom and returned with a little mud, which spread and grew into the land.
