Eagle Guardian of Aymara
In Aymara mythology of Bolivia and the Andean highlands, the eagle is a sacred bird associated with the upper world (hanaq pacha) and the sun god Inti. The Aymara people regard the eagle as a messenger of the gods, capable of flying higher than any other creature and thus closest to the divine realm. Eagles are associated with Mallku, the Andean concept of spiritual authority and ancestral power, and their feathers are used in ceremonies by amautas (spiritual leaders).
