Earth Mother (Blackfoot)
Earth Mother (Komatoskia) in Blackfoot (Niitsitapi) tradition is the primordial female deity who created the land, plants, and all living things. She is the wife of the Sun (Natosi) and mother of the Morning Star. In Blackfoot creation stories, Earth Mother molded the mountains and valleys from her own flesh and covered them with grass and forests. She taught the first women how to gather roots, prepare hides, and perform the sacred ceremonies that maintain the balance between humans and nature. She represents fertility, nourishment, and the cyclical renewal of life
