Earth Spirit is a powerful nature spirit in Arapaho mythology. In the story of How Medicine Man Resurrected Buffalo, when all buffalo had disappeared during a terrible famine and the Arapaho were starving, a powerful medicine man went into the mountains to seek a vision. After four days of fasting, the spirit of the Earth came to him and told him the buffalo had gone underground because the people had been wasteful.
