Egbere
Egbere are malevolent nocturnal goblins in Yoruba (not Igbo) folklore. Short-statured forest/grave dwellers who emerge at midnight weeping and riding sheep. They guard a mat of wealth; seizing it grants riches, though their tears are feigned. Documented by Crowther (1852) and Taylor (1898) in Yoruba accounts.
