El Naddaha
El Naddaha ('The Caller') is a female spirit of modern Egyptian folk belief who haunts the banks of the Nile. Described as a woman who calls men to the water at night, she lures them to drown; Egyptian rural tradition treats her as a kind of female jinn, a cautionary figure of riverside danger. The legend spread widely along the Nile in the early twentieth century.
