El Sombrerón (The Big-Hatted One) is a legendary goblin-like figure from Guatemalan and southern Mexican folklore who is particularly prominent in Mexican-American storytelling. He is described as a small man — no taller than a child — wearing an enormous hat, a red tie, and riding a tiny horse or mule.
