Elk Deity (Olmec)
The Elk Deity from Olmec tradition, as interpreted through the lens of Mapuche and Chilean folk spirituality, represents the fusion of Mesoamerican and South American indigenous beliefs. In Chile, this deity is associated with the arid regions of the Atacama Desert and the Mediterranean-climate valleys of central Chile. The blend of Olmec elk symbolism with local huemul (Andean deer) traditions creates a unique syncretic deity. This figure represents adaptation and the transfer of spiritual knowledge across the ancient trade routes that connected Mesoamerica to the Andes
