Ellefolk
In Danish folklore, ellefolk are the hidden people of the forests and meadows, closely related to the elverkonge (elf king) tradition found in Scandinavian ballads. Unlike the noble elves of later fantasy literature, Danish ellefolk are capricious, dangerous beings who lure humans into their dancing circles on moonlit nights. They are closely associated with burial mounds and ancient stones, places where the veil between worlds is thin. Farmers plowing fields that contain elf-mounds risk illness or bad luck, and tradition dictates that such mounds must be circled with respect or left unplowed
