Elf-maidens (Elverpiger)
Elverpiger ('elf-maidens') are Danish female elves: beautiful but hollow-backed, dwelling in elf-mounds and misty meadows. Dance at dawn/dusk, luring humans to join; entrants may be trapped. Vulnerable to iron, church bells, morning sun. Can be benevolent or malevolent. Documented by Thiele (1819–1823) and Kristensen.
