Erik Munks Gjenferd
Erik Munks gjenferd is the ghost of Erik Munk (1530s-1590s), a ruthless 16th-century mine owner who operated the Barbu silver and copper mines near Arendal. According to legend, Munk acquired land through fraud — he tricked a man named Benkestok into swearing an oath on what the man thought was his own land, while Munk had secretly placed soil from that land in the man's shoes. After his death, Munk was condemned to become a deildegast (boundary ghost), endlessly wandering the boundaries of his ill-gotten lands. However, unlike the typical deildegast who carries a boundary stone, Erik Munk's g
