Ésevone
Ésevone is the Sacred Buffalo Hat of the Cheyenne people, one of the two most sacred ceremonial objects of the Cheyenne Nation (alongside the Maahótse Sacred Arrows). Made from the skin of a buffalo cow's head, ornamented with a pair of buffalo horns that have been shaved down, flattened, and decorated. Ésevone represents female power, while the Sacred Arrows represent male power. It was brought to the people by the prophet Erect Horns (or Standing-on-the-Ground). The hat could summon buffalo herds and protect the people. Its keeper must follow strict taboos and perform annual renewal ceremoni
