Mvelincanti (meaning 'He Who Was There from the Beginning') is the supreme creator god in traditional Swazi religion of Eswatini. Unlike the more actively involved deities in some African pantheons, Mvelincanti is considered too remote and transcendent to be directly involved in the daily affairs of humanity. Instead, the Swazi people direct their worship and petitions primarily toward the ancestral spirits known as emadloti, who act as intermediaries between the supreme creator and the living.
