The Tikoloshe (also spelled Tokoloshe or Thokolosi) is a malevolent dwarf-like water spirit found in the folklore of the Nguni peoples of Southern Africa, including the Swazi of Eswatini, Zulu, and Xhosa. This mischievous and often dangerous creature is typically described as a small, hairy humanoid standing between half a meter to one meter tall, with grotesque features including a large head, sharp teeth, clawed fingers, and glowing eyes. According to tradition, Tikoloshe are not naturally occurring spirits but are created by witch doctors (sangomas) to harm enemies or serve their masters. T
