Fairy
Fairies are supernatural beings of European folk belief, spanning Celtic (aes sídhe, Tuatha Dé Danann), Germanic (elves, dwarves), Slavic, and Romance traditions. The term derives from Old French faerie, from fae, from Latin fata ('fate'). Origins include demoted angels, spirits of the dead, nature spirits, or a hidden earlier race; in tales they act as helpers, abductors, or amoral tricksters.
