German folklore has no generic 'fairy.' Specific beings include Elfen (light elves), Feen (fate-women), Holda's retinue, kobolds, Heinzelmännchen, Puks, and wood-wives (Moosfrauen). Jacob Grimm traced Weiße Frauen to Norse Ljósálfar. This entry conflates distinct beings; no single 'German fairy' exists.
