Fairy

In Italian folklore the fata is a fairy or fate-like woman whose name descends from Latin fata, the goddesses of destiny, and who appears in the Pentamerone and other collections as a magical benefactress or enchantress. Italian fairies blend the classical Parcae with medieval enchantresses such as Morgan le Fay, and regional figures from the Befana to water spirits are classed among them.
