Flying Head

The Flying Head is a terrifying cannibalistic spirit from Iroquois and Wyandot mythology. It appears as a giant disembodied head as tall as a man, covered in thick black hair with bat-like wings and long sharp claws. It preys on humans, especially widows and orphans, visiting their homes at night and beating its wings on the walls. Its appearance portends death within days. Its skin is impervious to weapons. The Flying Head is associated with whirlwinds and is feared as a bringer of disease and death
