Folletto
The folletto is a mischievous house-sprite of Italian folklore, a generic term covering regional imps such as the salvanello (Veneto), monacello (Calabria) and mazapégul (Romagna). Small, agile and often invisible, it can fly and disappear at will, tangling hair and manes or hiding objects by night, yet helps households that treat it well. As a folletto di vento it rides whirlwinds.
