Gårdsrået (the farm spirit) is a male household guardian spirit in Swedish folklore, similar to the Tomte but distinct in nature. While Tomten is a solitary gnome-like figure who helps with animals, Gårdsrået is the 'rå' (spirit) of the farm itself — bound to the land and buildings rather than a specific creature. Gårdsrået maintains order on the farm, protects livestock from illness and predators, and ensures good harvests.
