Garamantes (Ancient Desert Giants)
The Garamantes are a legendary people of ancient Libya, described by Greco-Roman sources and Berber oral tradition as powerful desert warriors, often attributed with giant stature or superhuman abilities. According to the Greek historian Herodotus (5th century BC), the Garamantes were a great people who inhabited the interior of Libya, herding cattle and driving four-horse chariots across the Sahara. In Berber mythology, the Garamantes are remembered as powerful ancestral figures who built an elaborate underground irrigation system (foggara) and ruled over a desert kingdom in the Fezzan region
