Ghosts Chinook
In the Chinook texts recorded by Franz Boas, the dead live in a shadowy town where they appear as skeletons and whisper in the dark. The tale of Blue-Jay and Ioi tells how Blue-Jay's dead sister Ioi is taken as a ghost bride at night, and how Blue-Jay travels to the afterworld to bring her back, only to see the dead fall to pieces at dawn.
