Glooscap
Glooscap is the great culture hero and transformer of the Mi'kmaq and Wabanaki peoples. According to the Mi'kmaq creation story, he was created when lightning struck the earth three times, and he lay for 365 nights with his head to the rising sun. Huge in size and powers, he created natural features such as the Annapolis Valley, the Five Islands of Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island (Abegweit). He defeated monsters like the giant frog who swallowed all the water, the Wind Eagle who caused too much wind, and the evil frost giants. He gave the people tobacco and taught them the sacred ceremon
