Golem-Bakku

guardian · Sri Lanka · South Asia

Not independently attested as a figure of Sri Lankan folklore. No source documents a water-spirit named 'Golem-Bakku' protecting wells or springs; the name is neither Sinhala nor Tamil and resembles the Japanese baku (dream-eater), not a Sri Lankan being. Genuine Sri Lankan guardian spirits are the devata, yaka and nāga figures invoked around water and shrines.
