Golem
The Golem is an animated anthropomorphic being from Jewish folklore created entirely from inanimate matter, typically clay or mud, brought to life through Kabbalistic rituals and the invocation of divine names. The most famous golem legend is that of the Golem of Prague, created by Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel, known as the Maharal of Prague, in the late sixteenth century to protect the Jewish community from blood libel accusations and persecution.
