Grizzly Bear Spirit
In the Bear Mother legend shared by the Haida, Nisga'a, Gitxsan and Coast Tsimshian, a young woman who mocked the bears was taken as wife by the son of the Grizzly Bear chief and bore twin bear cubs. Her sons, born of a human and a bear, became ancestors and gave the people the bear as a clan crest and guardian spirit.
