Grizzly Bear Woman Nuxalk
In the Nuxalk Smayusta of Ista, First Born (Patsallht) marries a beautiful woman in a red blanket who builds him a home of hemlock. She often disappears for days, and while away she reverts to her true shape, a grizzly bear. Learning that his wife is a bear, First Born leaves her, and she never again takes human form.
