Grýla
Grýla in Faroese tradition is the same ogress as in Iceland, documented in 17th-century Faroese ballads (Grýlukvæði) with specific local caves as her lair. She visits villages at Christmas demanding charity and threatening children. The Faroese version shares the Icelandic core but has distinct ballad tradition.
